Rapper Lt Headtrip teams up with producer Bloodmoney Perez for their ode to underground hip hop, EMBLEMS. A psychedelic journey through confrontation and escape, EMBLEMS delivers a wide range of moods in the 30-minute LP, from compelling dissent to contemplative grooves. Headtrip pays homage to art rap traditions atop Bloodmoney’s dynamic production tempers with classic hip hop sentiments including anti-conformity, visceral storytelling, and ascension. Bloodmoney’s industrial crate-digger loops radiate with instrumental flourishes from a slew of musicians, adding to the approachable complexity of the album. Boasting features from SKECH185, OLD SELF, Samurai Banana and Googie, and more, EMBLEMS is a finely curated collaborative project. Known for his intensity on a mic and a pen, Headtrip addresses cultural appropriation, harrowing personal tribulations and hopelessness, leaving room for meditative levity and exploration. EMBLEMS is available on Bandcamp digitally and physically in a limited edition high fidelity cassette tape, and is streaming everywhere now.

The first single from Lt Headtrip X Bloodmoney Perez, Elementary Space Madness, is a funky trip through the cosmos grounded in a steady groove. Jersey rappers Yung Daddy and Googie bring their smooth, gritty bars to Bloodmoney’s dusty production, while Headtrip teases his upcoming full length, EMBLEMS, a course in misdirection with calm, pedagogical wordplay.

Home Cooked, the second single from Lt Headtrip X Bloodmoney Perez, invites listeners into the rewarding yet gritty grind of underground hip hop, from creation to maintenance. Trip and his sous chef OLD SELF celebrate and commiserate the peaks and valleys of independent artistry over Bloodmoney’s gritty, industrial production. Turntablist Samurai Banana whips up desert from scratch while t0dd handles exposition between the back of house underground and their customers, always hungry for more.

Well-designed, functional art rap products at prices so low, as many people as possible can afford them. Lt Headtrip performs his verse from Home Cooked.

Lt Headtrip is a rapper, producer, and head of indie hip-hop label, WATKK. Headtrip cut his teeth as a performer and promoter in NYC with a DIY mantra, embracing its gritty underground. Intense performances and off-kilter yet thoughtful lyricism have garnered him respect as a diverse, passionate musician on and off stage.

A sought-after artist and diligent project manager, Lt Headtrip has booked and performed with art rap legends such as Armand Hammer, Open Mike Eagle, Quelle Chris, Beans, and Mega Ran. During his time working in NYC, he collaborated with members of Backwoodz Studioz, such as billy woods and Elucid, artists on Uncommon Records, Reservoir Sound, Smoker’s Cough, and many others. He’s also shared the stage with international stars such as Biz Markie, Slick Rick, Ghostface Killah, and Action Bronson.

His most recent album, Tap on the Glass (2023) is as enthralling as it is prescient. “Lt Headtrip and DOS4GW have joined forces to make some hip hop for the days when your hope for humanity is at its lowest. It’s dark, loud, aggressive hip hop that confronts you from the first notes and then just doesn’t let up until it’s over.” - Scratched Vinyl (2023)

Bloodmoney Perez is a rapper/producer with a long, accomplished history in the underground. Formed in the Bronx, raised in LA, Perez has contributed to hip hop scenes in the Bay, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Brooklyn, and Portland, OR, while remaining connected to the traditions of the coasts. A true lifetime student of the craft, Perez uses emerging technologies to flip samples, program drums and conduct unique melodies and sounds. His lyrics tackle thoughtful topics including semi-permanence, love, generational trauma, empowerment, loss, and contemplative observations from the eyes of a much-traveled artist.

In his journeys, he’s collaborated with many influential musicians such as Blu, Messiah Musik, Sleep Sinatra, Defcee and AJ Suede, and has shared the stage with legends including Mr. Lif, Abstract Rude, and Open Mike Eagle. Aside from creating music, Bloodmoney has contributed to the culture as a music journalist (SYFFAL, Damnthatnoise), an indie label owner, and a show promoter. His most recent full length, Second Hand Accounts, is "an intriguing presentation of top-tier left-field Hip Hop. Messiah Musik’s experimental instrumentals are captivating, as are Bloodmoney Perez’s bars" (Hip Hop Golden Age). Praised for his powerful baritone and semi-abstract rhymes, Perez has proven a formidable presence with a mic as well as a sampler. Catch his upcoming collaborative full length with rapper Lt Headtrip, EMBLEMS, in August of 2024, fully produced by Bloodmoney Perez.
