Unapologetically unique.

WATKK (we are the karma kids) is an independently operated hip-hop music label. Each artist on WATKK brings a distinctive flavor to the label’s catalogue while celebrating self-expression, artistry, dissent, and progression, while maintaining a DIY mantra. WATKK’s current roster includes Teddy Faley, Lt Headtrip, OLD SELF, miles cooke, Samurai Banana, Rich Courage, and Shape One, with satellite artists and affiliates.

Since Headtrip cofounded the label in 2007 with Samurai Banana, WATKK has maintained an independent ethos. After a few years of running basement shows throughout Long Island, Trip took this DIY format to NYC, booking shows in dive bars and venues throughout the city while building out a recording studio in his Astoria apartment. Starting in 2013, the Karma Kids began frequently touring the East Coast, Midwest and South, dipping into the West Coast a few years later.

Over the years, the WATKK roster would grow and change, inviting Googie, Gruff Lion, and Duncecap into the fold. This formation of the collective, alongside indie rap labels Backwoodz Studioz, Reservoir Sound, and Uncommon Records, would cement WATKK’s place in a long tradition of NYC underground hip-hip. Rappers Mc Eleven, Old Self, and Blastmaster Baker have also released projects via WATKK.

WATKK artists explore the human condition, whether within the portrait of a reclusive addict in Teddy Faley’s Teddy Brown Brown or miles cooke's i used to feel things, the unnerving scopophobic social commentary on Lt Headtrip X DOS4GW’s dense Tap on the Glass, or the the anti-authoritarian anthems from the punk infused Blastmaster Baker Vs. the Human Being Lawnmower.
